From the Philip Goldson International Airport, fly the 15 minute Tropic Air or Maya flight to Dangiriga. Taxis are available for the 30 minute ride to Hopkins. Or if driving, take the spectacular Hummingbird Highway from Belize City to Hopkins, an approximately 3.5 hour drive. Travel south on the Phillip Goldson (Western Highway). After 1 hour and 13 minutes, 78.4 km, or 48 miles, use the roundabout in Belmopan to turn left. There will be a second roundabout when leaving Belmopan, continue straight ahead and follow the Hummingbird Highway to the east. After 1 hour and 27 minutes, 100km, or 62 miles (there will be a Shell gas station just before,) turn right (the only way)at the junction to the Southern Highway. After passing the village of Silk Grass, look for the left turn to the Hopkins Road. There will be a bus shed at the junction. Once in the village, turn right at stop sign, heading south and cross the village. Stay to the left, pass the resort area and continue for approximately one mile. Shallow Bay Beach House will be to your left.
